Ana Cecilia Calle
Ana Cecilia Calle is a Colombian Ph.D student at the University of Texas at Austin researching Latin American literature and cultures. Ana has always beeen interested in how people use music and media a way to identify with society. Her work has been published in Colombian magazines Arcadia, Diners and El Malpensante. She co-authored El Bajo Alberti, a children’s picture book published by Penguin Random House in 2014. By night, Ana spins records with Chulita Vinyl Club, a womens vinyl collective with chapters in Texas and California.

Ashika is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a degree in Journalism and a Business Foundations Certificate. She’s written for multiple publications in Austin including ORANGE Magazine and Austin Monthly. After graduation, Ashika plans to pursue a career in multimedia journalism. In her free time, Ashika can be found spending a shiny penny at Alamo Drafthouse or chugging copious amounts of cold brew at the local coffee shop.

Greg Arellano is a freelance journalist, tech nerd, political junkie, and film fanatic. He’s currently studying electronic media at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Greg currently serves as President of the Association of Hispanic Journalists at Texas State. He is also Creative Director and Head of News Media for Off on A Tangent- an international creative arts collective. Greg works as a junior producer in the multimedia section of KTSW 89.9 FM, the college radio station of Texas State University. When he’s not surfing the web, you can usually find Greg reading or working on a new film project.

Jan Ross Piedad is a recent graduate of UT Austin’s School of Journalism. For spring 2016, she interned at NPR Washington’s Newsdesk and for the network’s mid-day show, “Here & Now.” Jan Ross’ work in public media began at KUT, as an intern and eventual web editor for “Texas Standard.” Her interests range from global development to pop culture and media literacy. She hopes to produce engaging stories that people would want to share.

Kris is a senior from San Antonio majoring in journalism with a Spanish minor at the University of Texas at Austin. So far in her college career she has served as the co-editor-in-chief of ORANGE Magazine for three semesters; worked as a photographer for Longhorn Life; and interned at Austin Monthly Magazine, San Antonio Magazine and local nonprofit B*Tru Arts. Although her life aspirations are constantly in flux, she is certain of her passion for telling human stories. Outside of school and work, Kris practices yoga, attends poetry slams and spends time with her cat.

Perla Arellano is a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and will be graduating in the fall of 2016 with a degree in journalism. She was a part-time producer for Telemundo Amarillo, worked at the Amarillo Globe-News, and currently works as a student writer for the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. She is a first-generation American, originally from Amarillo, Texas. Her roots are in Durango and Oaxaca, Mexico. She is working to gain experience to become a foreign correspondent.
